The Festive Pre Lit Artificial Christmas Trees Walmart Carries

At my house, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without pre lit artificial Christmas trees.

My entire family is allergic to pine trees.

Too bad, because I love the scent of a real evergreen, but I get hives and feel sick if I touch the needles.

Besides, I like big bushy Christmas trees that I can put up immediately after Thanksgiving and leave in place until after New Year's without fussing with dropped needles or worrying about it drying out.

I prefer the pre lit artificial Christmas trees Walmart carries because who wants to blow the Yuletide budget on a tree? And let's face it, you can't beat Walmart for a good deal.

I usually decorate three Christmas trees each year...all of them artificial. Two of them came from Walmart. One is 4 years old, and the other uses the latest technology that lights up all sections of the tree even when not all the lights are working in those sections.

And it only takes about 20 minutes to dig them out, assemble and fluff, and get them ready to decorate.

Assuming you're looking for a good Christmas deal, and you're keen to see the pre lit artificial Christmas trees at Walmart, it might be nice to know what to look for in an artificial pre lit Christmas tree regardless where it comes from.

iconBranches:

  • Branches come either hinged or hooked.
  • Hinged branches have fewer parts, because the branches are permanently attached to the "trunk". These trees set up quickly and are usually easier to work with and because of the convenience, they're a wee bit more expensive.
  • Trees with hooked branches are generally less expensive but take more time to assemble, because you have to manually attach (and manually unattach) each branch.
  • Which one looks best? I think a hooked tree can look as good as its hinged counterpart.

Accents and Accessories:

  • Artificial pre lit trees can also be flocked which makes the branches look snow or glitter dusted. The dusting can be subtle or heavy according to your taste.
  • Other accents like pine cones and  berries look awesome and come pre attached, too. The only downside to buying a tree complete with these types of accents is that your tree won't change even if your holiday decorating style does.

Tinsel, Feathers and more:

  • If your Christmas style is a less traditional, look for trees that fill a specific decorating need.
  • Tinsel and feather pre lit artificial Christmas trees and color changing technology are three easy-to-find solutions.
  • They come in a variety of colorful options like white, silver and gold. You'll probably see these most often as tabletop trees, but they're also available in floor to ceiling sizes.

Density and Tip Count:

  • Tip count is an indication of how many branch the tree has
  • Density refers to how plush those branches are
  • Both tip count and density effect how full the artificial tree looks
  • You could go for a lower tip count if they want to use the extra space between branches for ornaments

Materials:

  • Two types of plastic is currently being used: PVC and PE
  • PVC uses wires to attach the needles
  • PE trees are fabricated to look more like a real evergreens
  • Look for PE trees with sculpted tips for an more realistic look

Artificial Christmas Tree Widths:

  • The pre lit artificial Christmas trees Walmart carries generally come in varying widths ranging from narrow to pencil to slim to full.
  • These measurements are taken at the tree's widest point, so you can deduct about six inches if you plan to nudge the tree against a wall or against a piece of furniture or in a corner.
  • Full trees are best for open spaces, while narrow, pencil and slim can be more easily tucked into a space.
  • To get the perfect tree though, don't just consider the width. Consider the tree's overall shape.
  • Another key is to have the most natural looking tree. Pencil shaped trees tend to look less real

Get  the Height Right:

  • Average artificial trees heights range from 2' tabletops and increase in half-foot increments clear through through 12'. Walmart carries heights up to 15'.
  • For a floor to ceiling tree, select one that is six inches or lower than the height of your ceiling.
  • Keen on a tabletop? Look for a full tree that only takes up a small amount of space.

Focus on safety:

  • Look for the UL label. It is a safety seal of approval given only after rigorous testing
  • Unplug the tree before going to bed and before leaving home
  • Don't run an extension cord underneath a rug. It's a fire hazard.

A new artificial Christmas tree should last from 5 to 7 years. Regardless of the artificial Christmas tree you choose, a well decorated tree is a fabulous tree.
